Alessandra Gurtner

Post-doctoral Fellow

Alessandra is a postdoc fellow from Italy. She obtained her PhD in 2023 at the Institute of Experimental Immunology (Switzerland) under the supervision of Prof. Isabelle Arnold. There, she studied the role of eosinophils in health and disease. Alessandra developed a scRNA-seq protocol that enabled the first profiling of eosinophil transcriptional heterogeneity in the gastrointestinal tract and studied the mechanisms underlying the role of different subsets in homeostasis, immune regulation and host protection.

Now, in the Merad lab she will explore the impact of aging on immune cell fitness and colorectal cancer susceptibility.
